Eldred "Art" Arthur Potter Obituary (1935 - 2022)

Eldred Arthur "Art" Potter passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022 in the arms of his best friend and devoted wife Olga. He was born on November 10th, 1935 in Canandaigua, New York to the late Walter Edmund Potter and Helen Mary Potter (Lachine). A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Art earned a degree in mechanical engineering and spent his career working in the printing industry. We remember Art's love and devotion to his family, his easy smile, his keen sense of humor and sardonic wit. Art's calm demeanor belied a sharp, observant mind with a penchant for sarcasm that we all miss terribly. His appreciation of fine art, classical music, and foreign cultures led him to travel the world, but his heart remained in upstate New York. Art and Olga would build their dream home on Lake Chautauqua just a few hours from where he was born. Art was at home on the water and spent countless summer afternoons there as the boat captain, enjoying the squeals of laughter as his children and grandchildren splashed and crashed behind him on tubes and skis. We miss seeing him buzzing around the property finishing projects, doting on his beloved cat Margarita, and sitting on the deck sharing a glass of wine, hands clasped with Olga's, watching the sunset. Art is survived by his wife Olga Fitzsimmons (Salamaca), his children/stepchildren Deborah (Kevin) Husted of Fairport, NY; Lisa Vollbracht of Acworth, GA; Natalia (Philip) Fitzsimmons; and Andrij (Victoria) Fitzsimmons, his grandchildren Michael, Joshua, Alyssa, Megan, Bronwyn, Illia, Audrey, Katherine, Milena, Alexandra, and his dear cat Margarita. He was 86 years old. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14th, 2022, at 10:30 at Our Lady of Good Hope Church in Miamisburg, OH.
